Barbaroux
Creme de la creme
Par 72, 6636 Yards, Slope 143
- Rated among Europe’s best
- The toughest course in the region
- Designed by the world-renowned architect Pete Dye

This is Pete Dye Jnr/Snr at their best – a sublime mix of contoured fairways, huge bunkers, even bigger greens, hazards lined with railway sleepers and 18 totally different holes... Not a classic design but a great one nevertheless – mixing every type of layout possible – and backed up by priceless scenery.
To score well, you need to be able to play most shots and every club in your bag. The greens are sometimes 50 yards long and subtle too. All told, it is a fiercely difficult but very enjoyable challenge and you have two choices – play matchplay and forget your gross score or add six strokes to your handicap and hold on for dear life! Quite flat but there are a couple of long walks between green and next tee. 28 miles west of Le Muy and 37 miles east of Aix-en-Provence.
