Chateau d’Augerville

- A real hidden gem

One of the many attractions of playing in France is the occasional walk up the 18th with a breath-taking chateau as the backdrop – Chateau d’Augerville would arguably top that noble list.
One of the best-designed courses around, all 18 holes are good and offer a different challenge. You need to draw, fade, have a great short game and nerves of steel to master this course. You also need to take a chance with the couple of blind shots but there are no silly surprises. The best game plan is to take fairway woods or long-irons off the tee (big hitters can take their drivers out on the back nine) and hit long shots into the enormous greens. The 9th and 18th come back to the glorious 17thcentury clubhouse chateau where there is a friendly welcome and smart lounge. Lunch is often taken on the terrace overlooking the 18th where you see the occasional golfer coming to terms (or not!) with the island green. We highly recommend this course to enjoy the clever layout and wonderfully French setting. Hilly in places. 20 miles south-west of Fontainebleau.
